How the DEVAE CLI works

Install it, log in once, join rooms from the terminal. A short tour of the CLI and the auth flow behind it.

The CLI is for the half of DEVAE that happens in a terminal anyway. It is small on purpose.

Install and log in

npm install -g @devae/cli
devae login

devae login opens a browser page where you approve the device; the CLI receives a short-lived token and stores it locally. Nothing is typed into the terminal, so the token never lands in shell history.

Join a room

devae room join refactor-payments

This connects your terminal to the room as a shared terminal. The host controls whether it is read-only. Leave with Ctrl+C.

What is coming

  • devae post to publish a snippet straight from a file.
  • devae room create with a link you can paste to a teammate.
  • Shell completion for bash, zsh and fish.

The CLI is open source on our GitHub, alongside the README badge you can drop into any repository to link to your DEVAE profile.
