Developers of every level: students and self-taught beginners, freelancers, open source maintainers, indie hackers, remote engineers and AI builders. It is developer-only by design.
dev.to is for articles and Discord is for chat. DEVAE is for building together: every post can become a live room with screen and terminal sharing, and every profile shows real work.
For developers, yes. Profiles are proof of work rather than resumes, the feed is only developers, and there is no recruiter spam.
Live rooms
Live rooms are real-time voice and video rooms for developers with screen sharing and terminal sharing, used for pair programming, debugging, mock interviews and office hours.
No. Rooms work in the browser. The desktop app and the CLI add native screen and terminal sharing and one-command room joins.
Rooms are invite-only by default. A host can share the link more widely, and open rooms are listed on /rooms while they are live.
Not yet. Recording and AI recaps are planned.
Profiles and communities
Your stack, bio and links, plus your posts, snippets, projects and hosted rooms. Public profiles are indexable at devae.co/<username>.
Yes: tag hubs at /t/<tag>, stack communities like /community/react, city and country communities like /community/karachi, and groups you can create at /g.
Yes. City communities list members, posts and groups in that city, starting with US, Canadian and Pakistani cities.
You describe what you are building and what you are missing; an AI-assisted matcher ranks developers by complementary skills, time zone and commitment, and you talk it through in a room.
Pricing
Yes. DEVAE is free for individuals during the open beta: unlimited posts, rooms, snippets and the CLI, no credit card.
Individual accounts will stay free. Paid plans for teams (private rooms, admin controls, priority support) are planned under the Nitro name.
No. Sign up and you are in.
Privacy and safety
Rooms are invite-only by default and nothing shared in a room is public unless you post it. Posts and snippets have visibility settings.

Members can report posts and people; a small moderation team reviews reports, with automated spam checks alongside. See /safety.

A small team; DEVAE is in open beta and ships updates across web, desktop (macOS, Windows, Linux) and Android.
